SERIES 3

Cyber Threats: What every Veterinary practice needs to know

Thursday 24th September 2026, 7:30pm – 8:45pm

What’s the difference between a major retailer hit by a cyber attack, and your veterinary practice? Not as much as you might think.

Cyber crime has made headlines over the past year, with organisations such as Co-op and Marks & Spencer experiencing serious disruption. The reality is that veterinary practices face many of the same threats – and are often seen as easier targets.

This session will use real-world veterinary examples to show how and why practices are being targeted, the true cost of an attack, and the simple steps that can significantly reduce risk. Attendees will leave with practical, specific guidance and a clear understanding of what to do if, and when, they are affected.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the most common cyber threats targeting veterinary practices and recognise the early warning signs of an attack.
  2. Implement practical cyber-safe behaviours within a veterinary environment to protect practice management systems, client data, and payment information.
  3. Respond confidently to a suspected cyber incident, understanding immediate actions, escalation routes, and how to minimise disruption to patient care and day-to-day operations.
