I qualified from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in Edinburgh in 2004. After a few years in mixed practice in the Lake District and New Zealand I moved into small animal work in the North Lakes. In 2011 I diversified into animal health roles in the pharmaceautical industry which were all focused on providing technical support to practices and commercial and marketing teams. This fostered my curiosity for how else I could use my degree and resulted in me working as the Vet Talent Manager for Vets4Pets for 3 years where I led and implemented a strategic overhaul of their graduate programme and early careers support for vets and students. It led to us winning Graduate Programme of the year award at the National ISE awards. I have now diversified further and am the Pets at Home Group (inc. V4P) Sustainability and Social Value Manager.

I was a member of SPVS Board from 2011-2022 and served as President 19-20. I also served as our Congress and CPD Officer for 4 years and our Member Services and Early Careers Officer for 6 years. During this time I organised our Final Year Vet Student seminar which was a 4day seminar open to all final year vets in the UK.

I am also a founding member of Vets, Stay, Go Diversify and a member of their working tribe and I am a trustee for the Pets at Home Foundation.

When not at work I’m usually found chasing after my one year old son who is usually chasing our dogs Quinn and Tom who are being chased by the cat!

I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College. Five years after qualifying I put my plate up in Truro Cornwall. The practice grew to 10 Vets 40 staff and four standalone centres. I have gained a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction at Liverpool Vet School. I have been on the council of BVA chairing the Membership Services Group.
I joined the SPVS Council in 2013 eventually migrating to a board which I am a member of and I am very honoured to be JVP for 2021/22 and President for 2022/23. I have a particular interest in EMS and graduate support.

I have been a small animal vet for the majority of my career. I started in general practice in 2002 in a mixed practice and rapidly became a director of the hospital. After 17years I changed focus and had a clinical management role for 3 years in a large corporate practice. Recently, I have started a business offering clinical mentorship and peripatetic surgery to general practice. I have been a member of SPVS board since 2015.

For most of my career I’ve been a small animal vet in a large independent mixed practice in South Northamptonshire. I became a partner in 1994 and retired in 2018 although I still do a small amount of financial reporting for the practice. I was a member of SPVS Board from 2013 to 2022, organised ‘Scubascene’ in 2014 and became Honorary Treasurer in 2017. In 2019 I became a Trustee of the SPVS Charitable Educational Trust and manage the finances with help from the other Trustees.

After qualifying at Bristol University, I joined a mixed practice in Devon in 2002, becoming a partner 2004. I moved away from clinical practice in 2018 and I spent 2 years with IVC in their IT Dept. I am now working as a locum and as a Veterinary IT Consultancy to support industry and practices in their use of technology.

Clinically my interests are dermatology and client communication.
During my limited time away from work and SPVS, my interests are sailing, dancing, and spending time with family. Within SPVS my main role as been as chair of the Vet XML Consortium, working to improve the transfer of data between practice and industry, and currently on the CPD Committee. I am also a school Governor for the local primary school responsible for finance.
