We’ve been receiving a lot of messages from members who remain unsure about how to proceed with their route to GDPR compliance.
To help illuminate the situation we have been working with Connected Vet over the last few weeks and have identified key facts that are hampering practices who understand that they need to do something to address their new responsibilities under GDPR, but that don’t know where to start.
The Three Routes Towards Compliance.
To address these challenges, we have worked with Connected Vet and to define three possible routes that members, and vets generally, could take to minimise their risk of non-compliance with the GDPR on 25th May 2018. These Three Routes to Compliance can be downloaded here.
Connected Vet is offering 10% discount to SPVS members for the Supported and Self Service Routes to Compliance AND for the first 100 SPVS/Vetshare members to sign up for the self service there is a 20% discount on the Self Service Route ! For details see below.
In addition ConnectedVet have also provided:

Connect Vet suggest watching the webinar which will tell you what you need to do to maximise compliance and then reading the ‘Three routes’ PDF to discover the three options you have for how to do it.
Routes to Compliance
1. Supported route towards compliance
This is the ‘consultancy’ route. If you undertake this with Connected Vet it will cost an average practice between £1.5-2.5k. The time required by the practice will be minimal and the risk of non-compliance will be relatively low, as you’ll have someone who understands how to implement GDPR in a veterinary practice with you throughout.
This route is practically limited by consultant resource. You can make a booking enquiry now, but please note that availability is limited. (Please quote Supported Route enquiry in the subject line)
2. Un-assisted route towards compliance
This is the do it all yourself route. It can be executed using only in-practice time and resource. Connected Vet has developed a Data protection tick-list document for us to help practices along this route.
Any practice can start this process now, and if you’re planning to take this route our advice is to start as soon as possible. It is absolutely doable if you have the time, but we believe you will need to dedicate significant management and staff resources to this route if you are to stand a chance of materially reducing the chances of non-compliance.
3. Self-Serve route towards compliance
This is the DIY route we are developing with Connected Vet. We believe that this will offer the best of both worlds, balancing a more modest financial investment with a lower need for staff time and expertise and resulting in a much lower risk of non-compliance. This route will comprise a series of online e-training modules designed to help practices understand their GDPR responsibilities in workable detail, complete their data flow audits, implement the GDPR requirements in their practice and train staff appropriately.
This self-serve route costs £950 (£855 for members of SPVS with a 10% discount). This route is modular, so you can just purchase the bits you think you need.
Gap Analysis – Data Protection Audit Tool Kit and E-Learning Support – £500
Compliance Action – Data Protection Documentation Pack – £450
Connected Vet has made a limited offer for the first 100 SPVS (or VetShare buying group) members where the ‘Data Protection audit’ and ‘Documentation pack’ will be available for just £760 or 20% off.
This route will be available to download and run from 25th January for SPVS members and from 5th February for everyone else. The risk of non-compliance when following this route is less than un-assisted but marginally greater than the Supported route.
