Unlocking the Potential of Remote Consulting in Veterinary Practice
Remote consulting offers significant benefits to patients, owners, veterinary teams, and practices. However, it remains underutilised in established practices. Blue Cross has recently developed and expanded its remote consulting service. In this session, Alison will demonstrate how everyone can benefit from a well-delivered remote consulting service within an existing practice. It reduces footfall in hospitals, saves owners travel expenses, decreases stress for patients, and provides more opportunities for flexible working for teams. Strategies must be employed to ensure animals receive appropriate care, particularly identifying when remote care is insufficient, and to prevent the issue of ‘double-jobbing’ where a follow-up face-to-face consultation is required.
Learning Outcomes
- How to effectively integrate remote consulting services into practice to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Understand how to identify cases that can be managed remotely and those that require in-person consultations, ensuring appropriate care.
- Provide strategies to maximise the benefits of remote consulting for patients, owners, veterinary teams, and practices, including reducing stress and increasing flexibility.
