Synopsis

Join Paul in this fascinating and practical session on building teams, facing adversity and the challenges of leadership with the importance of developing a positive mind set in overcoming problems. In 1914 Sir Ernest Shackleton lead the Endurance Expedition to cross the Antarctic Continent. Despite the loss of his ship crushed in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea and being stranded on Antarctic Sea ice, over the two years of the expedition he reacted, recovered, adapted and changed and brought all his crew home safely. In a modern business context, we don’t have to face storms, cross sea ice and exist on the edge of survival, but we can learn important lessons from Shackleton’s adventures and remarkable leadership achievements. Great leaders create passion and motivate people to grow their confidence and skills. They create high functioning teams where people can be positive and creative and be constructive in dissent, demonstrating self-determination in problem solving and bounce forward from adversity.
