Conscious Connection in Leadership: Active listening to understand your team and improve relationships
Do you listen or do you only hear? You may think you’re a good listener but are you truly staying engaged or just trying to persuade people to do things your way and allowing emotions to influence the conversation. To give the gift of active listening we must acknowledge and quieten our biases, establish what the speaker needs and proactively concentrate on the speaker to both listen and observe. From this we can start to build a conscious connection choosing to show up to each conversation with deliberate intention, thereby considering our values, how we behave and what our actions could mean for others. Through building conscious connections we can begin to understand our team’s motivations, we can improve relationships and we can make our teams feel valued. If our teams feel valued they make fewer mistakes, they remain engaged and want to stay as part of your team. Delving into how we can develop active listening and conscious connection Sara will help you strengthen your team bonds and support you in your leadership journey.
