SPVS Past Presidents’ Weekend
SPVS past presidents catch up in Barcelona.
Thirteen SPVS Past Presidents and their partners got together in Barcelona for three days of culture, good company and a thorough investigation of Catalan food and drink. We stayed at the lovely, well situated, Yurbban Passage hotel and followed a busy and varied schedule of sightseeing. The Sagrada Familia was a high spot, along with some of the other gorgeous Gaudi buildings, culminating in a memorable roof-top evening concert at Casa Batllo. There was Flamenco for those who like it, and an evening for some at the Jazz Festival in the spectacular Palau de Musica. As an antidote to high culture several of us joined the “Street Style” tour, with a deeply knowledgeable guide who explained Barcelona’s graffiti culture in a part of El Ravel that few tourists see. Barcelona is famous for its excellent restaurants and we sampled several of them at length. Many thanks to Benchmark Travel for their flawless organisation and flexibility, organising tailor-made itineraries for each of us at a remarkably good price, liaising with the hotel and restaurants, and for providing our excellent guide, Suzie, who showed us so many wonderful things during our stay. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and there is already talk about Florence in 2020!
